New Baby Boy!

Camden Wynn Monk
October 21, 2010
6 lbs. 8 oz.
20" long
Proud Parents: Steven & Brooke Monk
Loving Big Sister: Emily Elizabeth Monk
Emily loves Camden!
Here she is kissing him.
What a cute little family.
Proud Grandma!

Everything went really well for Brooke and Camden.
So glad that part is behind us. Although, don't you
just love the excitement of a new baby and oh, all
those sweet little baby smells and sounds.

I just feel so blessed to have such a wonderful daughter-in-law and son.
We walked into the hospital room and Brooke or Steven would just
hand that baby right over to me. They are just so willing to share!
I appreciate that so much, it makes it so easy to bond with the little
guy when you get to love and cuddle them all the time.

Emily is going through an adjustment period but doing so well.
She sure missed her Mom when she stayed with
Grandma & Grandma Monk.

I'm glad Brooke's Mom is coming to say for a few days.
It will be so great for them to have some time together.
Nothing like sharing your baby with your Mom.

I love you guys, thanks for being such a great little family!
You make us so proud!

My Dream Day!

I remember when Steven went to the temple 9 years ago. It was wonderful! When Natalie went it was so great! Then, Sam went and it so good but it just didn't feel complete. Now, my whole family was at the temple together. It was so good and I just loved it. I had to have pictures to document the event. It was just such a special day for us. . .

P.S. A big thank-you goes out to Brooke. She will be having a sweet little baby in just four days. I know she must of been so uncomfortable to sit for 2.5 hours. She was such a trooper and I love her for that. Thanks Brooke for your sacrifice, it will never be forgotten.

Matt's 19th Birthday party

I can't believe that my baby turned 19 years old.
It seems like just yesterday he was born.
I remember it vividly in my mind.
It was a beautiful fall day very similar to what it was today.
Matt was a beautiful baby and we were so excited to have him join our family.
We were then complete!
Matt has always brought so much joy and excitement into our lives.
What an awesome missionary he will be.

I drove to Rexburg and picked Matt up after I got off work.
We went and bought all Matt's temple clothes and then enjoyed lunch together.

Everyone arrived for our family party around 6:30 p.m.

We had chicken Fettuccine, Matt's favorite and it looks like Emily liked it too!

After dinner we carved pumpkins.

Our finished products!

Showing off our pumpkins.

The presents!

Emily loved helping Matt unwrap his gifts.
I have a feeling Christmas will be lots
of fun this year. . .

Sam and Hailey with their pumpkins.

Matt with his birthday cake!
We love you Matt, you are a special part of our family!!!

Las Vagas

Last week, school was out on Thursday and Friday. Wynn and I took advantage of NO SCHOOL and we headed out of town. (We needed a get-away, just the two of us). We left Thursday morning after Wynn's Dr. appt. We drove to St. George, UT and went to the Tuacahn outdoor theatre nestled at the base of 1,500 foot majestic red cliffs. We saw the show, "Crazy for You." It was amazing and I enjoyed it to much. Thanks to my good friend, Paula Hegsted, for suggesting it to us.

We drove to Vegas on Friday morning.
We purchased a City Express card.
This got us three shows and dinner at a buffet
So fun just walking around and enjoying the sights!

Inside the Planet Hollywood is where we went to see the shows.
On Friday night, we went to a Variety show and then to dinner.
It was really fun and entertaining.

We loved the water fountains set to music at the Bellagio.

Saturday we drove over to the Hoover Dam.
Wynn thought the new road would be open but not until next month.
(You can see the new road in the background)

We also found the Las Vegas temple!
It was beautiful!

Saturday night we went to the Beatle Show Tribute.
I enjoyed it so much. They sounded just like
the "real" Beatles.
OH, so fun!

Glad to be home and back into a routine.
Always fun to go but I sure like home. :)

Matt's mission call - October 1st, 2010

Matt turned in his mission papers on Monday, Sept. 20th.
I was surprised when the phone rang on Thursday, Sept. 30th
at 8:00 in the morning. It was our mailman! He
called to tell me that he had my son's mission call
in his hand and he would be delivering it that day!
I was so excited.
Calls went out to everyone!

Elder Matthew James Monk

Opening the call!

Everyone guessed where they thought Matt was going.
I think Grandma Erma guessed California.
I'd say, she is the winner!!!

Ventura, California Mission.
He leaves January 5, 2011
That is only three months away.
Even though Matt got his call on Thursday, he waited
till Friday night at 7:00 to open it.
I thought I would go crazy just having it sitting on
my kitchen table.

I must say, it was well worth the wait.
It was so fun for all of us to gather
for this momentous occasion.

I think everyone was very happy for Matt!
He will make the world's best missionary!

We love you Matt!
You make us proud!
